What happens, if the goal of Tetris would be to reach to the top of the grid? And can we make this a little harder? :-)

Failtris starts very simple, but gets much harder at the end. Beat level 10 to win the game.

The mechanics have an inner logic, where shapes with missing tiles are still shapes that can only fall down together (not like candy crush). There is also no chain reaction (again not like candy crush). Therefore higher columns than currently allowed and tiles in the air can exist and are not bugs, but certainly a different mechanics might be even more fun (like candy crush ;-)).

Here is a video of the gameplay:

KNOWN ISSUES: There was a bug where sometimes the game just stopped instead of spawning the next tile or proceed to the next level. It should be fixed, please let me know if you still encounter it (or other bugs). Please use the BUGFIX version if you play the download versions.

Nice game!

Thanks!

It's an interesting idea for sure, but there needs to be some force trying to stop you from failing if you want it to become more interesting. Also, sometimes, when i get a line, the game just stops working.

Thank you for the feedback. I am still hunting down this bug, thanks for hinting that it is about the lines.

Otherwise, did you see that the levels get harder? At the end, failing is actually not that easy. After 10 levels you win the game.

But you are right, I would have needed more time to balance the game mechanics and maybe come up with more ideas. This was the first idea when I read the theme and I needed the whole time to implement the mechanics that I just had to hope that it would be fun in the end to play. Which I think it is, it is a great starting point to explore the idea further.
